It is with great sadness that APRIL announces the death of Judy (Yu-Ju) Chen, member of the Board of Trustees, and Treasurer.
Judy was born in 1967 in Taiwan and passed away unexpectedly in British Columbia on April 8, 2023 at the age of 56.
Judy has been a cheerful and conscientious part of the APRIL community for many years. Her expertise in accounting and her work with non-profits made her an ideal contributor to our organization, and she constantly worked hard to ensure that our finances were secure.
Perhaps more importantly, she understood and practiced the interreligious commitments that have been at the heart of APRIL. She worked with the Buddhist Council of New York, the American Buddhist Confederation in Chinatown, and participated in numerous interreligious gatherings around the world. She had a deep interest in helping people integrating Buddhist teachings in their everyday life through Chinese and Japanese tea ceremony, Chinese calligraphy, music, iaido, meditation, and served as tea consultant in tea companies in NY and Vancouver
